19 maj 2018 · This has been discussed a few times on the forum and the official date for the game starting is Karl Franz's ascension to the role of Empereror, everything is pretty much where it is at that point in the timeline, and from there it follows whatever happens with the players.
It's set in it's own alternate timeline where characters years and years out of place show up and different GW versions of characters show up out of sync with each other. Also the end times kinda happens with Chaos. Basically Total War Warhammer is it's own universe running on the "rule of cool."
