The Waldorf Salad was first created by the maître d’hôtel, Oscar Tschirky, at the Waldorf Hotel, which is now known as the Waldorf Astoria. Tschirky is credited with coming up with the recipe for the Waldorf Salad, which originally consisted of only three ingredients – apples, celery, and mayonnaise.
