A Waldorf salad is a fruit and nut salad generally made of celery, fresh apples, walnuts, and grapes, dressed in mayonnaise, and traditionally served on a bed of lettuce as an appetizer or a light meal.

21 lis 2015 · The Word’s Best Waldorf Salad. The Waldorf salad was first created between 1893 and 1896 at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City (the precursor of the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, which came into being with the merger of the Waldorf with the adjacent Astoria Hotel, opened in 1897).
Over the years, the original Waldorf Salad recipe has evolved and been adapted to suit different tastes and preferences. Variations of the Waldorf Salad now include ingredients such as grapes, walnuts, raisins, and even chicken or turkey.

It debuted officially in Tschirky’s “Oscar” of the Waldorf’s Cookbook in 1896. Our version refreshes the classic preparation for modern palates.
