In 2024, a single Nursing Home Medicaid applicant must meet the following criteria: 1) Income under $2,829 / month 2) Assets under $2,000 3) Require a Nursing Home Level of Care.
Medicaid eligibility is based on your income relative to the Federal Poverty Level (FPL), which adjusts with household size. To qualify, your income must fall below the specified limit as percentage of the FPL. The Medicaid income limit for adults age 19 to 64 is 138% of the federal poverty level.
Determine net income for AUs that meet the gross income standard and for AUs containing an elderly or disabled member. Start with all dollar and cent amounts for income not excluded for Basic Food and all allowable expenses. Allowable non-reimbursable medical expenses over $35 for persons in the AU who are elderly or disabled.
