6 cze 2013 · The W-W 14th Ed. reloading manual provides the following data for W-231 in 38 Special: 158 gr. Lead SWC 4.0 gr. W-231 = 745 fps = 12600 psi 4.5 gr. W-231 = 830 fps = 15800 psi 4.7 gr. W-231 = 860 fps = 17100 psi (38Sp +P load)
30 maj 2022 · Help with W231 load .38 special load. For action pistol I need to target 980FPS with my 127gr lead plain base hollow point (power factor). The bullet is essentially the MP 360640L at .358. Right now I'm up to 4.6 gr of W231 and averaging about 860 FPS (2 different chronos).
2 mar 2013 · New reloader here , looking for data on doing some jacketed 148gr .38 special wadcutters using w231. My book doesn’t give me specifics for 148gr jacketed , it does give 146gr jacketed info though. Wondering what my powder charge should be.

29 gru 2022 · Does anyone have a recommended 38 Spl 148 gr DEWC “Full Wadcutter” load using W231? Using my Lyman manual, 3.5 grs W231 may be a good duplicate? The load will be used in a +P rated S&W Model 442.
Winchester 231 is between Bullseye and Unique for the .38 special (see my personal load above). Hodgdon’s Clays, International, Universal and HP38 are good choices. And Vihtavouri’s N320 and N321 fall in this range for burning times.
