26 paź 2021 · Young age at repair could lead to prolonged postoperative stay and a higher reoperation rate. Surgical closure of multiple ventricular septal defects (VSDs) is challenging and associated with a high complication rate.
23 wrz 2020 · Overall, 53% of patients with surgically closed VSDs were initially discharged at age <10 years (median age, 6.5 years; range, 2–8 years) and 47% were ≥10 years (median age, 19 years; range, 14–53 years).
When one examines Fontan procedures in patients with unbalanced AVSDs, the mortality rates (17 to 31.7%) were higher 144, 145 and actuarial survival rates (66.5% at 5 years and 64.4% at 15 years) were lower 146 and there were more surgical and catheter re-interventions (51.9%) 145.
1 wrz 2021 · A total of 30 surgically closed VSDs (51±8 years, repair at median age 6.3 years with total range 1.4–54 years) with 30 healthy controls (52±9 years) and 30 small, unrepaired VSDs (55±12 years) with 30 controls (55±10 years) were all equipped with a Holter monitor for 24 hours.
2 lut 2023 · The results show that people born with VSD had 10 years lower life expectancy than the general population. Of the people with VSD, 85% survive to 60 years versus 94% for the general population. The differences in the percentages surviving to 80 years were further increased.
24 lis 2022 · Dissecting the risk of mortality in surgically closed patients, our data show a 30-year survival after surgical VSD closure of 90% which is in line with previously published papers showing 40-year survival rates of 86%, 4 81%, 8 and 79%, 9 respectively.
7 sie 2023 · Background. Older adults with a congenital ventricular septal defect (VSD) recently exhibited reduced heart rate variability and exercise capacity. It is unknown whether these findings affect health‐related quality of life. Methods and Results.
