Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Kent County Animal Shelter! If you are interested in our field trip/overnight program, please complete the Volunteer Application and email the completed application to kcas@kentcountymi.gov. We will then contact you to schedule orientation.
Shelter Volunteers: HSWM appreciates the support our group volunteers can provide at the animal shelter. Potential volunteer tasks can include: raking dog runs, tidying up the dog park, pulling weeds along the dog walking trail, sorting pet food, sorting cat items, organizing various areas, and other needed support.

Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Michele’s Rescue is a 501c3 non-profit animal rescue which was started in 1997. We are a no kill rescue that takes in and adopts out animals from shelters all over the country.
Reuben's Room Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non profit, no-kill rescue in the greater Grand Rapids Area. Reuben's Room is an alternative cat rescue founded in 2003. The purpose of the rescue is to help fill the need for re-homing domesticated cats.
Crash’s Landing and Big Sid’s Sanctuary are devoted to taking at-risk stray cats off the streets of the greater Grand Rapids area, providing them with veterinary care, and housing them in our free-roaming facilities until dedicated, loving permanent homes can be found.
