This notion has been credited to two famous U.S. humorists: Mark Twain and Will Rogers. Yet, I have never seen a solid citation, and I have become skeptical.

They ain't making any more of the stuff. No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it's not the same river and he's not the same man. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

Buy land, they're not making it anymore. The trouble with our Liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so. Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
