Ants emerge from the pupa stage in a bright red color. As they age you will see them turn to pink and finally to white before they die. Older ants that do not become gatherers will instead become guards and you will see them gather by the hole to guard it.
Ants can die from combat and old age. The player can adjust the stats of newborn ants by opening the menu in the top left corner. Once a player is happy with their species of ant, they can export their genetics strain to the server.

I like ants and needed a side project. So, I am building a virtual ant farm. I found some code written in 1991 for Unix in C and figured I'd port it to React, bring it to the web, and begin adding some features to it.
