The Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Central Registry is mandated by the Virginia Child Protective Law. The search of the central registry is a check to determine if the person has ever been the subject of a founded complaint of child abuse or neglect in Virginia.
Anyone can report suspected child abuse or neglect to a local department of social services or to the CPS Hotline. Callers will be asked to provide as much information as possible about the child, the alleged abuser and the incident.
The Online Clearance System allows designated, authorized users access to electronically submit database-check requests to the SCR, thereby replacing the mailing of the paper LDSS-3370 form.
