Peter Pan is a 1953 American animated adventure fantasy film produced in 1952 by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures. Based on J. M. Barrie 's 1904 play Peter Pan, or the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up, the film was directed by Hamilton Luske, Clyde Geronimi, and Wilfred Jackson.
As with most of Disney's post-War projects, Peter Pan had actually been in the works, in one form or another, for quite a long time. Disney had purchased the film rights to the story all the way back in 1938, but World War II happened, and Disney's animated projects were set back almost a decade.
