Usually for VHS you should use PAL: 704x288 or NTSC: 640x240. The key is to use half vertical size (VHS only have half of vertical anyway), that will save a lot of realtime process and will avoid all interlacing problems (no need to deinterlace later).
3 paź 2020 · For VHS tapes, record to 768x576 (PAL) - depends on what the capture card is able to produce. In OBS, set Settings->Video->Base resolution and output resolution both to one of these resolutions. In Settings->Video set fps to 50 if you have PAL material or to 59.94 if you have NTSC material.
If you’ll be digitizing your tapes for use on a modern device (like a computer or a phone) use one of these for the “Output (Scaled) Resolution” setting: For NTSC, type in 720×540. For PAL, type in 768×576.
If your VHS tapes were recorded in LP or SLP, you can probably bump down the horizontal resolution to 640 or even less and see acceptable results. Chroma subsampling is another thing to discuss, however NTSC color resolution is atrocious, so 4:2:0 will be more than adequate.
VHS is probably more similar to a 500 pixel horizontal resolution but other NTSC formats, like Hi8, or S-VHS, will require about 720 pixel accuracy. In my opinion, in the near future, AI upscaling will make it much less important how well NTSC is digitized.

25 sty 2018 · The effective resolution of a VHS recording is about 320x240, interlaced, 50 Hz (PAL) or 60 Hz (NTSC), so set your OBS canvas size to this. It makes no sense to record any higher resolution or even upscale.
