VGA (ang. Video Graphics Array) – standard kart graficznych IBM-PC ustanowiony w 1987 roku. Karty VGA były po raz pierwszy montowane w komputerach serii IBM PS/2. Karty VGA są zgodne z kartami EGA, a dokładniej funkcje VGA są nadzbiorem funkcji EGA. Niejako automatycznie karty VGA są zgodne z CGA i MDA.
Video Graphics Array (VGA) is a video display controller and accompanying de facto graphics standard, first introduced with the IBM PS/2 line of computers in 1987, [1] [2] [3] which became ubiquitous in the IBM PC compatible industry within three years. [4]
The horizontal timing registers are based on a unit called 'character' (As they match one character in text mode). Each character equals 8 ( 9/8 Dot Mode is set) or 9 ( 9/8 Dot Mode is clear) pixels. Each scanline contains Horizontal Total + 5 characters, zero based.
The main features of VGA text mode are colored (programmable 16 color palette) characters and their background, blinking, various shapes of the cursor (block/underline/hidden static/blinking), [3] and loadable fonts (with various glyph sizes). [4]
Set VGA fonts. If you're still in text mode and want the VGA card to draw different glyphs, you can set the VGA font. It's worthless in graphics mode (because characters are displayed by your code there, not by the card), I only wrote this section for completeness.

The Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector is a standard connector used for computer video output. Originating with the 1987 IBM PS/2 and its VGA graphics system, the 15-pin connector went on to become ubiquitous on PCs, [ 1 ] as well as many monitors, projectors and HD television sets.
