Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. (19) Give place unto wrath. —It seems best to understand this of “the wrath of God” (indicated in the Greek, here as elsewhere, by the use of the article).
