Some free alternatives that I’ve tried: Inventibles Easel (though that may be subscription based too now) Carbide 3D Carbide Create (need to pay a subscription to do everything that Vcarve does) Fusion 360. Try using the free software and see if the convenience of V Carve is worth it for you.

I upgraded from Vcarve Desktop to Vcarve Pro, then to Aspire. I upgraded as my learning curve progressed, and never paid more than the upgrade fee. The upgrade fee is the price difference between versions.
30 sty 2020 · Having said that, it’s free, and available on the mac! And it’s totally capable, it just has it’s particular charms. You might not need to buy v-carve, especially if you’re just having some fun carving stuff up casually.
