In this two-concept unit, students will study the era of Texas history that started on the eve of Mexican Revolution. The major focus of this unit is for students to build an understanding of how Texas went from being a Spanish colony to a major area ruled by Mexico.
This guide helps prepare for the TExES History 7-12 Test, which assesses knowledge required for teaching History in grades 7-12 in Texas public schools.
It provides a brief reading passage with comprehension questions, questions requiring inferences, and using context to determine the meaning of key terms. Students will summarize the main idea of the unit based on the passage. Grade Level work combines short, constructed response and multiple-choice questions.
Texas history is divided into teaching units. These units will explore major concepts, learning specific content, improving critical thinking skills, develop working collaborations, providing opportunities for creativity, and practicing communication strategies.
The Handbook consists of overview, general, and biographical entries focused on the entire history of Texas from the indigenous Native Americans and the Prehistoric Era to the state’s diverse population and the Modern Age.
