I have had a valve cover gasket leak on my M3 for sometime now , took me a while to find out why I was going thru a Quart of oil every 2-3 weeks . Figured it was normal for BMW considering the miles I was driving .
7 lut 2023 · My best guess is that the half moon section of the valve cover gasket has failed, and the oil is dripping from the back of the motor, all down the side of the head and block, and then hitting the o2 sensor.

26 lut 2019 · Valve cover leaks and failures are the new plague of most BMW models built after 2006. Its about the same as the cooling system issues from the 2000-2005 models. If the valve cover is not leaking or cracked, The PCV valve built into many of them fail.
Seriously though, oil will leak primarily from the rear left corner (looking from the front of the engine - though it really can leak at any point) and drip onto the exhaust manifold so you'll see oil and smell burning oil.
