• A PA is a medical provider who is nationally certified and state licensed to practice medicine. Today there are more than 100,000 certified PAs in the United States. Physician Assistant Roles. The goals of the Rush University PA program are: Matriculate and retrain qualified students from diverse backgrounds. Prepare competent PAs with the medical knowledge, clinical skills, and professional behaviors required for entry-level practice. Prepare graduates to work on interprofessional healthcare teams.
Requirements for Admission. Applicants to the Physician Assistant Studies Program are required to have a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian institution prior to matriculation. Three letters of reference are required with the application.
Established in 1972, the Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program is a full-time, post-baccalaureate program that begins once a year in May and ends 30 months later in November. The curriculum is a powerful blend of academic learning and hands-on clinical training.
