Units of this type were designed and built on the one hand to significantly increase the combat capabilities of the US Navy, and on the other - to replace the Virginia class cruisers.

1 maj 2006 · This is an injection-plastic ship model kit. Part of Fujimi's new series of ships of the U.S. Seventh Fleet. Crisply molded in light gray styrene, detail is average in this relatively easy-to-build model (not as advanced as current Pit-Road offerings).

Here's a few shots of my Tico-class cruiser Chancellorsville from the Monterey Dragon Premium Edition kit. The kit has a photo-etch fret and an additional molding of antenna upgrades to bring the model closer to an up-to-date ship.

USS Chancellorsville (CG-62) is a Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser in service in the United States Navy. She is named for the Battle of Chancellorsville of the Civil War. Until 30 December 2011, the ship was operationally part of Carrier Strike Group Seven.
