1 wrz 2023 · We divided the Nile Basin into four transboundary sub-catchments (i.e., White Nile, Blue Nile Atbara River, and the Main Nile) based on the drainage areas of the major tributaries and reaches of the Nile river to represent the spatial hydrological variability of the basin (Khalifa et al., 2021).
The Nile Basin is the part of Africa drained by the Nile River and its tributaries. Besides being the second largest hydrographic basin in Africa, the Nile Basin is effectively the most notable drainage basin on the continent.
11 lis 2024 · The Nile River’s basin spans across the countries of Egypt, Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, Uganda, and Tanzania. The Nile is composed of two tributaries: the White Nile and the Blue Nile.
The book fills the knowledge gap about one of the most important transboundary rivers in the world. Describes the hydrology and ecology of the basin in relation to the anthropogenic and climate changes. Combines science, engineering and management.
26 sie 2024 · The many habitats in the Nile River basin support biodiversity in the region. The basin is home to a variety of animals, including the hippopotamus, the monitor lizard and the fearsome Nile crocodile. The Nile River Delta is also a vital winter stopover for millions of birds migrating along the East African flyway.
With a total length of about 6,650 km (4,130 mi) [a] between the region of Lake Victoria and the Mediterranean Sea, the Nile is among the longest rivers on Earth. The drainage basin of the Nile covers 3,254,555 square kilometers (1,256,591 sq mi), about 10% of the area of Africa. [26]
Henri J. Dumont. Features a multidisciplinary account of the longest river of the world: the Nile. Discusses the geological history, hydrology, climate, the biota of the basin, the effects of human interventions and the value of water as a natural resource.
