15 kwi 2014 · Metformin is an effective ovulation induction agent for non-obese women with PCOS and offers some advantages over other first line treatments for anovulatory infertility such as clomiphene. For clomiphene-resistant women, metformin alone or in combination with clomiphene is an effective next step.
Among these guidelines are updated recommendations for the use of metformin in patients with PCOS. These recommendations advise that patients with PCOS and BMI≥25, impaired glucose tolerance, and/or adolescents age <18 should take metformin to prevent metabolic sequelae of PCOS (1).

23 paź 2003 · This is the first systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials in the use of metformin in treating polycystic ovary syndrome. Where metformin is used as a sole agent, ovulation is achieved in 46% of recipients compared with 24% in the placebo arm (NNT = 4.4)
