The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is the standard by which gardeners and growers can determine which perennial plants are most likely to thrive at a location. The map is based on the average annual extreme minimum winter temperature, displayed as 10-degree F zones and 5-degree F half zones.
Hardiness Zones, also referred to as Growing Zones or Planting zones are defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS). The zones in this map were created in 2023 using mean extreme climate data covering the period of 1991 to 2020.
According to the 2023 USDA Hardiness Zone Map Sunset, Florida is in Zones 11a (40°F to 35°F). This is a change from the 2012 USDA Hardiness Zone Map which has Sunset in Zones 10b (35°F to 30°F).

18 gru 2023 · Today, the new USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map (November 15, 2023) tells us that half of the entire United States is one-half-zone (or 5 degrees F) warmer, and the Florida map shows the same trend. We still need to know everything we can about the weather.
