This is usually caused by a USB power issue. If there is not enough power to properly power the device then Windows brings this message up. It's hardly ever a driver issue. The key word here is "Malfunctioned" in the bubble. Either plug the device directly into the computer, or plug it in to a powered hub. Share.

Then: Press "Ctrl + Esc" to open the Start Menu. Type Device Manager in the Search bar and press "Enter". Click Continue if necessary.
20 mar 2017 · In the last week, some of my USB devices have failed to be recognised on my Windows XP SP3 laptop. It first happened with 2 external USB HDD enclosures connected through a mini USB hub. Connecting them individually did not resolve the problem.

13 cze 2012 · Running in XP Mode, the USB device is not recognized. Steps Taken: Have attempted use of Win7 compatibilty mode wizard and enable use of (Win 2000, XP SP2 and XP SP3) various Win OS modes. Have attempted installation of XP Mode via Virtual PC.
8 mar 2010 · All the drivers are there and updated, all plug and play items are turned on and active, under device manager it says all usb ports are working properly. I've uninstalled them and reinstalled them several time with no joy.
