3 lis 2013 · UGM-133 Trident II is a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) with an ICBM-class range. It is currently deployed by the US Navy’s Ohio and British Vanguard Class submarines. The Trident II D5 Life Extension (LE) version is expected to be in service aboard the Ohio-class SSBNs until 2042.
15 cze 2024 · Designed as nuclear ballistic submarines (SSBN), the Ohio-class can carry 24 Trident missiles in two rows of 12 — and each of the missiles is able to carry up to a dozen Multiple Independent Re-entry Vehicles (MIRVs) with a yield of 100kT. However, the Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT) limited the number of MIRVS to eight per missile.
