Coming from VGA/DVI, my first thought is that the new monitor cable standards (HDMI/DP) can passthrough USB as well. As it turns out, modern monitors with USB hub will have type-B USB to connect those USB ports to your computer, so you'll have 2 cables connecting from PC and monitor.
