Find the 3 jumpers near the CPU. normally 1 and 2 are open and 3 in close. open 3. if 1 anf 2 are close open them. screw back the 3 screws. press and hold DW/REV and A/N and MW and switch on the RADIO.
I just found out that I can unlock the ability for my FT-65 HT to transmit by following a guide online. The max transmit power for FRS channel 20 ( 462.7250 MHz) is 2 watts and I can set my HT to low power which is 0.5w and my new antenna gain is 2.15 dBi.

11 gru 2016 · I replaced it with an FT-7900 which was replaced by an FTM-100. The 1900 is now connected to a power supply in my workshop where I listen to it when I'm working in there. The Maximum power on the FT-7900R is 50 watts.
Most of the solutions (APRS, for example) will require a ham radio license — unless you're willing/able to just use a smartphone? — but in addition to APRS mentioned by OP already, there are some digital modes (Yaesu's C4FM comes to mind) that include location information in transmissions.
8 paź 2020 · I recently discovered that on the Yaesu FT-65R that whilst in the setup menu (holding the PTT button and button right under the PTT button while turning on the radio), that codes can be entered via the keypad. Codes that enable a TX expand (illegal).
