The Ruins, with a Kill Count of 20, start off the route with less of a bang and more of a honk of despair, introducing The Player to the tedium of grinding for kills.
1. Dark Ruins. Try to kill Decibat, as many Rorrims and Crispy Scrolls as possible for more EXP, don't exhaust the kill counter early. Reach the corn maze, make sure to retrieve the Pebble Ammo (+3 AT) by going around the maze and reaching the top left corner.

The Genocide Route occurs when the protagonist kills every enemy (including mini, mid and main bosses) in every region: the Ruins, Snowdin Forest, Waterfall, and Hotland (the CORE is a sub-region of Hotland). Starting in the Ruins, the protagonist repeatedly triggers encounters to kill all monsters.
Before leaving the ruins, you want to make sure you have: 3 spider ciders (for the Undyne fight), Bscotch pie (for the Sans fight), knife/stick (to sell later), bandage/ribbon (to sell later). At first box you should put away everything and equip the tough glove.
