This review is a survey of the authors` scientific investigations in the field of ultrasound velocity measurements in electrolyte solutions and various liquid systems. Measurements were performed with a specially designed ultrasonic-laser interferometer and a pulse-echo system.
We now discuss sound velocity in water, which has specific acoustic properties. Figure 1.3 shows the temperature dependence of the sound velocity measured at a frequency of 5 MHz in water [ 2 ]. The sound velocity exhibits a maximum at approximately 74 °C.
