The Student Recreation Facility and the Sport & Fitness Center provide the opportunity for lap and recreational swimming. Both aquatic facilities are fully accessible and ADA compliant.
The Chicago Park District manages 50 outdoor pools, 27 indoor pools and works with Chicago Public Schools to operate school pools for community use in areas without a park pool. Indoor pools are open most of the year.
The pool, which has hosted six Horizon League Championships, most recently in 2017, is located in UIC's Physical Education Building. The facility houses a 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool, as well as two diving boards at both the one-and three-meter height.
Chicago Park District programs are offered through four seasonal sessions each year: winter, spring, summer and fall. Registration for these activities may be available online and/or in-person, depending on the park. Online registration is divided into two zones over two days.
Semi-Private Swim Lessons. Age: 6 and up. For participants who want to learn to swim, improve their stroke mechanics and/or breathing techniques, through small group instruction. Learn to Swim Aquatics. An evaluation pre-requisite is required for Learn to Swim Aquatics classes. If you know your child is at the beginner level no evaluation is required- feel free to register for Learn to Swim Level 1. Learn-to-Swim classes will be held at 737 S Halsted St.
Group Swim Lessons. Our Fall II Session will be October 20th - November 23rd. Our Spring I Session will be January 26th - March 1st. Registration for Spring I session: TBD. Evaluations for Spring I session: TBD.
