Students* within their designated waiver period can submit their application to initiate the audit process through the UCSHIP Waiver Application below. Upon submitting your application, you will receive an auto-generated waiver confirmation code to verify receipt of your waiver submission.
To waive UC SHIP coverage, you must have other health insurance coverage that meets the university’s health insurance requirements, described in the waiver criteria below. You must submit a waiver application prior to the start of each new academic year to waive coverage that year.

UCSHIP has incredible coverage of psychiatric care in particular—therapy and psychiatry are entirely free in-network. Meds are also covered really well. One of my meds would cost $2.6k per month normally without insurance but ends up being $40. I would recommend against just immediately waiving it.

Waiving SHIP. Students that have comparable local health insurance are eligible to waive UCSHIP.
