You can complete the application online during the fall, winter or spring waiver periods. Your waiver will be applied to the full academic year — or to the remainder of the academic year if you apply during the winter or spring terms.
If your plan does meet the requirements, you can complete an online waiver so you won’t be enrolled in UC SHIP. A waiver must be completed every academic year, so if you have a qualifying insurance plan and successfully waive UC SHIP in the fall, no further actions will be needed until the next academic year.

Registered students who are automatically enrolled in UC SHIP are covered while attending classes, during term breaks, and through the summer — up until the day the next fall term begins. Non-registered and eligible dependents who enroll in UC SHIP are covered from the first day of the enrolled term until the start of the following term.
