UCSHIP Health Fee. The UCSHIP Health Fee is a registration fee and cannot be removed from your BruinBill. If registration fees are not paid by the fee payment deadline, classes are dropped and late payment fees are applied.
Students have 2 options: Remain enrolled in UC SHIP and pay the UC SHIP fees ($741.90/qtr) via UCLA BruinBill by the deadlines (fall – 9/20/18; winter – 12/20/18; spring – 3/20/19), OR.
Waiving Coverage. To waive UC SHIP coverage, you must have other health insurance coverage that meets the university’s health insurance requirements, described in the waiver criteria below. You must submit a waiver application prior to the start of each new academic year to waive coverage that year.
If you waive it then they will decrease aid by the amount UC SHIP costs (so you get exactly the same either way). You should get it, it’s better than medical. At least in Irvine a lot of doctors don’t take medical so UC ship gives more options and the deductible is really low
