4 lut 2013 · server# sudo mount /dev/sdb2 /home/storage. It mounts but the /home/storage receives root as owner and group and doesn't allow media user to write there. If I use mount command without sudo as the user media - i'm not allowed. Says only root can use mount.

On Ubuntu Server, we can either use the “mount” command manually to access a USB drive or add the device identifier to the file system’s configuration file to have it automatically mounted during the system boot.
To mount the drive, open up the terminal, type in ssh yourusernameondesktop@yourdesktopsip, enter the password, and use the mount command. sudo mkdir /media/flashdrive. sudo mount /dev/devicename /media/flashdrive. Make sure your password is safe - remote access can be used against you.
First you need to connect your drive to the server. Second: type dmesg just after connecting, at the end you should see what the system "calls" the drive. Third: type mount to see if some automount mechanism already mounted the drive.
15 cze 2014 · You can use the --device flag that use can use to access USB devices without --privileged mode: docker run -t -i --device=/dev/ttyUSB0 ubuntu bash. Alternatively, assuming your USB device is available with drivers working, etc. on the host in /dev/bus/usb, you can mount this in the container using privileged mode and the volumes option.

Maybe you could try passing in umask parameters when mounting? # sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb -o umask=000. chmod/chown wont work because permissions are already determined at time of mount. Most drives are also formatted with FAT32 thus are unable to store UNIX permissions. Share. Improve this answer.
