The Third Series of Skins originally aired on E4 from January 22, 2009 to March 26, 2009. This is the first series not to feature the main cast from Series 1 and Series 2, as they were entirely replaced for Series 3 (with the exception of Kaya Scodelario as Effy).

Later that day the Skins official Twitter confirmed the show's upcoming end in 2013 and also confirmed that E4 will air what will be considered the show's "seventh series", consisting of three 2-hour episode specials (with each episode focusing on a specific generation).
However the show has still been able to keep its sharp edge and shock factor, with some fantastic new characters and actors for the third and current fourth series. The character video diaries functionally replaced Unseen Skins for the third series. A new diary was posted on the E4 website following the broadcast of each episode, and the diary often pertained to the events of that episode.
