I watch live news on YT, and there aren't many commercials at all. My favorite free streaming channel is Tubi because they have a really good selection of movies, they have an on screen warning for ad breaks, the ads are really short and not objectionable at all.
There are hundreds of free channels with this stuff! Some of my favorites are 247 Retro, Spydar TV, and Pub-D-Hub. I haven't been impressed with any of the various free channels I've tried. Old movies and TV shows aren't our bag. We want the cable channels and tried Hulu Live, Sling and DirectTV Now and ended up with YouTubeTV.
To get live streams of the major cable news channels and others you will need a subscription to sling or comparable and view that via the roku stick. There are free alternatives to stream in the roku channel. Research what is available.
