Turbo Boost Switcher is a little application for Mac computers that allows to enable and/or disable the Turbo Boost feature. It installs a precompiled kernel extension (32 or 64 bits depending on your system) that updates the Turbo Boost MSR register, so It will ask for your admin password when using it.

Here comes a new release of Turbo Boost Switcher, version 2.11.0. It’s already available for download both free and pro version. I’ve been waiting for Monterey to become final to be sure it’s fully compatible without any issues, and since even previous version worked just fine, here we go!

27 maj 2022 · So, here are a few tricks that you can use to enable and disable turbo boost on the fly. I personally run my laptops with turbo boost disabled, using one of these methods, and I flip turbo boost on only if I need additional CPU power (maybe gaming, intense database work, or some other kind of number crunching).

I did this by (sigh) purchasing Macs Fan Control and Turbo Boost Switcher Pro. Macs Fan Control was set to activate the fan at 65 degrees and max out at 85 degrees, while Turbo Boost Switcher was set to disable at 3500 rpm fan speed and re-enable when fan speed dropped below 2800 rpm.
