Extra Information. The Sperger manuscript uses Viennese tuning, raised a semitone to E ♭ major: Thus the solo double bass is written in D major and sounds a semitone higher than usual. In the Tischer-Zeitz edition, the orchestra plays in E major, and the bass is notated in D major.
The bass part is written in E minor and the accompanying piano score choice depends on the tuning of the bassist. Though an extremely rare tuning, a piano score for accompanying bass in high solo tuning is also included.

The piano part for this edition is only useable with the C major bass part if the bass player is tuned up a minor third to rarely used high-solo tuning (G-C-f-b ♭) or if a different bass part that has been transcribed to D major is used and the bassist tunes a half-step higher to F-A ♯-D ♯-G ♯.
