You can bascially make them any size you want (for example, a lot bigger than 268px) but tumblr will just automatically resize them to 268px on your dashboard. However, when you click on the individual gif in a set, tumblr will show them in their original size.
I prefer speeds that range between 0.09 and 0.12, but you can mess with these and find which ones suit your gif to your liking (I chose 0.09 for this gif). Remember that using the same speed for every gif will not benefit all gifs!
