16 cze 2022 · BINGHAMTON, NY — June 16, 2022 — New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) today announced their participation in a statewide program to help low income customers facing unprecedented amounts of unpaid balances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The program is meant to provide financial relief for low-income consumers by making their electric and/or natural gas utility bills more affordable through monthly bill discounts. Energy costs for low-income customers historically have been between 10-20 percent of their income, or sometimes higher.
Income-eligible consumers can receive a discount on their monthly electric and/ or gas bills, as well as other benefits, depending on the characteristics of the particular utility's program. The
