27 cze 2024 · A triplet is a type of tuplet that allows us to play three notes in the time of two notes. It’s easier to explain with an example. Every type of music note can be split up and divided into two equal beats.
An understanding of rhythm is one of the most important factors in a musician’s ability to sight read. It is also a major factor in becoming an independent musician.
A triplet is written by putting a “3” over the top of the notes to show that 3 notes should fit in where there would normally only be 2. So in this example the “3” over the top of the crotchets means that 3 crotchets adds up to 2 beats instead of 3.
The beat unit is a dotted rhythmic value one larger than the bottom number; sixteen on the bottom means a dotted-eighth beat unit, eight on the bottom means a dotted quarter, and so on. Compound time signatures can be duple, triple, quadruple, or even quintuple (five beats).

A “triplet” is a group of three notes played in the time of two. To look at how triplets work, we’ll first look at a short rhythm in 3/4 time. Remember that in 3/4 time, one crotchet (quarter note) beat can be divided into two quavers (8th notes):
The term triplet refers to a series of three notes that are played in the space of two notes of the same value. For example, an eighth note triplet occurs when a musician is expected to play three eighth notes in the same amount of time as they would normally play two eighth notes.
