It was at the oaks, or great trees of Mamre, that God's covenant with Abraham, which would affect the entire world, would be carried out. It's an amazing and unique event that is the most important covenant in the Bible.
Mamre is the site where Abraham pitched the tents for his camp, built an altar (Genesis 13:18), and was brought divine tidings, in the guise of three angels, of Sarah's pregnancy (Genesis 18:1–15). Genesis 13:18 has Abraham settling by 'the great trees of Mamre'.
The Oak of Mamre (Greek: ἡ δρῦς τῆς Μαμβρῆ, hē drys tēs Mambrḗ) or Oak of Sibta at Khirbet es-Sibte or Ain Sibta in Hebron in the West Bank is a site venerated by some as the "Oak of Abraham". It is distinct from the more ancient site of Mamre.
Some refer to it as the Oak of Mamre, or Tamarisk Tree of Abraham as described in the Bible. Today the tree is propped up by metal beams and wooden planks and looks quite dry. Nearby grow offshoots taken from the father tree.

20 lut 2018 · Pinpointing the most likely sites for ancient Mamre is an almost impossible task. Five candidates have been identified, of which we will visit two of the most famous: the Oak of Sibta and Ramet al-Khalil/Elonei Mamre. Though almost certainly not the tree of Abraham, the oak of Sibta has been venerated since the beginning of the Middle Ages.
