The authors screened independently the title and abstract of studies, identified through the literature for potential inclusion. For this study, BoNTA (Botox® or Dysport® or Xeomin®) was defined to include any clinical use, of any dosage or duration, for the treatment of adult post-stroke lower limb spasticity (PSLLS).
These results suggest that BTX could be a useful and safety strategy for the treatment of lower limbs spasticity after stroke. Further investigation is required to determine the effectiveness of BTX injection for stroke patients with optimal timing and dose of intervention.

Lay Abstract. A group of doctors from around the world, who are experts in treating muscle stiffness and spasm (also called spasticity), reviewed the current scientific evidence supporting the effectiveness of using botulinum toxin injections in treatment of spasticity that results from a stroke.
