Receive, protect, disburse, and invest the state’s funds. Return unclaimed property to its rightful owner. Distribute tax revenues to counties, cities, and other taxing districts of the state. Invest and account for the state’s investment funds, trust funds, and bond proceeds.

Salary. US$ 90,000. State Treasurer of Mississippi is a post created in 1817 when the state was admitted to the Union. Before the state was formed by splitting the Alabama Territory from the Mississippi Territory, an equivalent post was the Territorial Treasurer General, established in 1802.
That same customer-service mindset is at the center of what McRae is working to accomplish as State Treasurer. His primary responsibility is to manage the cash flow that keeps state agencies operating on a daily basis, but the job also comes with a seat on 17 different boards and commissions.
