The City of Los Angeles, Department of Recreation and Parks, offers a service that provides a beautifully refurbished birthday train car within the confines of the Travel Town Museum on a reserved basis for a nominal fee.
The Griffith Park Railroad at Travel Town has operated its 16″ gauge miniature train ride at the Museum since 1978. The train takes museum visitors on a grand circle around the Travel Town complex and operates throughout the day.
How do I buy tickets? Do I need to reserve a spot? You can purchase in-person tickets the day you plan to ride, or in advance at our ticket booths at either location. Our day train and Simulator tickets are not specific to a day or time, and are honored anytime the day ride is open. We do not offer online purchase for our regular train rides.
Daily Operating Hours. *We close 45 minutes for lunch, Mon to Fri. Spring & Summer hours. 10am – 4:30pm. Fall & Winter hours. 10am – 4pm. *We close for lunch on weekdays sometime between 12:30pm-1:00pm, based on crowd size. We remain closed for lunch for 45 minutes.
