“Za” in the word Zabuton means sitting, and “buton” means futon — a traditional Japanese floor mattress made from thick cotton. Zabutons are made from folding layers of cotton and stuffing them in fabric to create rectangular or square shapes. A typical zabuton measures between 55 and 69 cm.
