PHASE I: ADAPTATION OF VYGOTSKIAN-BASED STRATEGIES TO THE AMERICAN CLASSROOM The Tools of the Mind project first implemented Vygotskian activities in two classrooms, a mixed-aged classroom with children from kindergarten to Grade 2 (5-7 years of age) and in a large kindergarten class that had three teachers in a private school.
