Tim Curry and Judy Loe (who went on to marry actor Richard Beckinsale in 1977) went to Birmingham University together and were close friends. They began their professional careers together in ‘Hair’ during 1968 and worked together briefly in the television show ‘Ace of Wands’ in 1970.
He goes on to recall a car journey down to London with Tim, Barlow, Judy Loe (who married Richard Beckinsale and is the mother of Kate) and Barry Kyle (who went on to be associate director at the RSC).

Judith Margaret Loe (born 6 March 1947) [1] is an English television actress. She was married to actor Richard Beckinsale until his death in 1979 and was later married to television director Roy Battersby until his death in 2024.
Timothy James Curry was born on 19 April 1946 in Grappenhall, Cheshire, [a] [2] [3] the son of school secretary Patricia (died June 1999) and Royal Navy chaplain James Curry. His father died of pneumonia in 1958, when Curry was 12 years old. [2] His elder sister, Judith, was a concert pianist who died of a brain tumour in 2001. [4] Curry spent most of his childhood in Plymouth.
