If you are listening on quality equipment, Tidal will sound noticeably better. I'm referring to their "Hifi" content, not MQA. Hifi content is CD quality, vs Spotify which is high end MP3 quality. Most people would say that Spotify has the better app, but Tidal is not far behind in my opinion.

Tidal recommendations work slightly different to Spotify. You won’t find the same level of intrusive recommendations with tidal, they are more subtle in the sense that occasionally you will see sections appear like “because you listened to” and “stations” based on.
Spotify has 22.09% of the market share by streams, and 44.33% of the market share by revenue, compared to 0.11% and 0.58% for Tidal. (2019-2020 numbers from The Trichordist). With 158 million subscribers for Spotify, 3 million for Tidal, and 200k for Qobuz, Spotify is just in a much better position to generate money for the artists.

6 wrz 2022 · Even better value is Spotify Premium Family, which gives Premium access to up to six people (nominally from the same household) for £16.99 / $15.99 / AU$17.95 per month. Tidal, on the other hand, does not have a free tier (unless you're in the US, in which case it has ‘Tidal Free’ for 160kbps streaming with “limited interruptions”).

Haven’t noticed any difference in audio quality, but I find Tidal’s UX far better (much clearer app design, more intuitive controls), I’m glad to not be funding Joe Rogan or Daniel Ek, and the integration with Plex means I also have access to my own mp3 library.
