They are absolutely a scam & affiliated with several other scammy ticket sites like megaseats. They are arbitraging the ticket buying process - selling tickets for a high price long before the concert or event, and then buying low-price tickets at the last minute to fulfill those orders.
Trainline itself is not a scam, but it hosts ads that are. I tried to book a train return ticket via them in August 2023, and after entering the outbound journey, 'Continue' was there and I clicked on it.
Total scam. Do not use. I purchased tickets on 2/16/21 to a spring training game on 3/28/21 with a promise that the tickets would be e-mailed to me on 3/24/21. Never got the tickets, and I was on hold on their phony number (866-459-9233) for 2 hours (I flew down to Florida from NY to see this game).
