30 paź 2023 · Follicular cells are responsible for producing thyroglobulin (an iodine rich, inactive form of the thyroid hormones), which is then stored as a semi-solid substance (colloid) in the lumen of the follicles.

5 gru 2022 · The thyroid follicles are the structural and functional units of a thyroid gland. These are spherical, and the wall is made up of a large number of cuboidal cells, the follicular cells. These follicular cells are the derivates of the endoderm and secrete thyroid hormone.
Thyroid Follicles - spherical follicles of varying size (50 to 500 µm) in which thyroid hormones are stored. Colloid - lumen of each follicle is filled with the gel-like mass called colloid. It is mostly the protein thyroglobulin (pink) and bound thyroid hormones (triiodothyronine and tetraiodothyronine (or thyroxin)).
1 mar 2009 · C cells: intrafollicular (separated from thyroid interstitium by follicular basal lamina), numerous dense core neurosecretory granules (type I are 280 nm, moderately electron dense and present in most C cells; type II are 130 nm, more electron dense and rare)
14 cze 2023 · Unlike other endocrine glands that secrete their products directly into the bloodstream, the thyroid gland stores its products in follicles. The follicles are often clustered together to form numerous lobules that forms the parenchyma of each lobe of the thyroid.
Location. Thyroid follicular cells form a simple cuboidal epithelium and are arranged in spherical thyroid follicles surrounding a fluid filled space known as the colloid. The interior space formed by the follicular cells is known as the follicular lumen.
The functional unit of the thyroid gland is the follicle, a roughly spherical group of cells arranged around a protein-rich storage material called colloid. The follicular cells are orientated with their bases near the capillary blood supply and the apices abutting the colloid.
